Manos del Uruguay

Manos del Uruguay, The Hands of Uruguay, is a non profit making organisation which assembles over 400 artisans in co- operatives scattered throught the countryside of Uruguay.  The aim of the organisation is to bring economic and social opportunities to rural women.

We stock two of the Manos ranges Manos Silky a luxurious blend of Merino wool and Silk.  Hand dyed in large kettles to create a marbelized, subtly striated effect that forms a rich palette of glorious colours.  No two skeins are the same and there are no dye lots.

The Manos Clasica is a lustrous hand spun  yarn and kettle dyed over wood fires, which gives rise to a wonderful marbelized striated yarn, which can be either subtle or dramatic, and gives several colours in one skein.  No two skeins are alike and there are no dye lots.
